The Museum of the City of New York’s first expansion and renovation project, a 3-phase, $97 million effort, includes creating new exhibition galleries and public program spaces, and renovating the entire facility. The Museum will remain open throughout construction and renovation.
Poulin + Morris designed a construction barricade blocking the Fifth Avenue main entrance and surrounding the building with a large-scale mural comprised of brightly colored panels reflecting color and typography found in the existing Museum logotype. Its primary function is to identify the Museum to visitors and direct them to a temporary entrance on 103rd Street, as well as promote current exhibitions and programs.
