Constitution Wharf consists of three multi-tenant, commercial office buildings located on the harbor waterfront in Charlestown, Massachusetts, with extensive views of the city of Boston. Directly adjacent to the site is the USS Constitution, as well as the Boston Harborwalk and the historic Freedom Trail that run directly through the property, all contributing to its appeal to office tenants. However, the office complex, built in 1985, was showing its age and its new owner, National Development, embarked on an extensive renovation and modernization effort.

The office complex required a new brand identity, as well as an environmental graphics and wayfinding sign program, to reflect the owner’s extensive capital improvements and communicate the desirability of the property to creative, tech-savvy commercial tenants.

This comprehensive branding program includes stationery and administrative forms, as well as a Style Manual with accompanying electronic templates to assist staff members in implementing and maintaining the new program in a consistent manner. Design team members also worked closely with the National Development’s marketing team to develop a program that would effectively support their efforts, and also lend itself to subsequent updates by in-house staff.

The property’s new logotype and visual brand, as well as its applications in print, digital media, and environmental graphics acknowledges the historic nature of Constitution Wharf’s location but clearly establishes it as a 21st century office complex.
